Short Handle: Ground-fired clay spoon for dips, sauces, salsas, honey, salt, coffee beans and more. These clay spoons are handmade by a group of women in a small town in the mountains of southern Baja. The clay is locally harvested and prepared; then each piece is shaped by hand and ground fired. The ground firing process creates unique markings. The clay begins as a rich red color. After firing it mellows to an earthy beige tone with a hint of gold shimmer, and black markings from the fire. Due to their handmade nature, every spoon is a slightly different shape, size and color. Some spoons will be more brown/red in color while others more black - the unpredictability in color is due to the nature of the firing process, and we consider these variations desirable outcomes from the handcrafted method.
